We took a road trip to Dublin this weekend in a bid to surprise our friend Laura for her 30th birthday. Dublin, as you know can be expensive so we opted for a B&B instead of a hotel. We were very last minute and just booked at 1pm before we left! We arrived at Aaron Court Guesthouse in Ballsbridge and straight away I thought: ‘I’ll definitely be coming back here!’
The beds are seriously comfortable and Leslie, the host is buzzing with pizzazz. I thought Julian looked like a hunk, so I took a snap! He was showered and dressed in 5 minutes and had to wait a while for my transformation.
Such a nice touch upon arrival: Baileys!
I rarely wear sports clothes anymore as I haven’t been making time for exercise in the past few months. I’ve been too busy. The only exercise I get is running from A to B, usually dashing in and out of Kate’s Kitchen for that coffee and cake fix. I went make up free yesterday to let my skin breathe. Sweats are from Heatons and despite not taking part in anything remotely sports related, wearing them alone made me feel sporty and fit! Fake it.
What I wore:
Dress: Ruby Lane Sligo
Earrings: Chocolate Box Jewellery
I kept tan and accessories to a minimum and through back my hair loosely. The bandage dress was half price at local store, Ruby Lane. I picked it up a few months ago thinking it would be handy for a summer wedding abroad, but it finally felt like Spring this weekend so I decided to wear some bright colours. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, you know I love bold primary colours together.
I finished the look with monochrome cameo earrings from Chocolate Box. All gems in this range are authentic vintage. Browse the collection on Facebook. There’s nothing like a fresh, white garment to update your wardrobe and that feeling of wearing it for the first time. I picked up this coat in NYC in January. It’s a cheap and cheerful number from Forever 21. It cost $34. Shop here.
The party was a surprise organised by Laura’s boyfriend and twin sisters. The venue was incredible. It was the penthouse suite of The Morgan hotel in Temple Bar. Out of this world. It was an intimate setting and an evening spent among close friends. Hats off to her super sisters and man. For anyone organising a party, this place is worth checking out here. Here’s a mammoth photo frame from the rooftop. There’s the birthday girl in the beautifully coloured gúna. She got such a surprise!
There was even an old-school camper van, which we decorated with bunting. We ended up hanging out there most of the night! Boyfriends, follow suit! This is one 30th birthday we’ll never forget.
