My night at The Beacon was a dream.
I had one of the most enjoyable nights in a long time. I got an invitation to experience the ultimate Vintage Tea Party at this luxury boutique hotel with a host of other bloggers and journalists from around the country. After my day’s work, I took a trip to Sandyford, Dublin and upon arrival, I was blown away by the decor in the lobby: oversized mirrors, pool table, four-poster bed…
When I saw the room, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. Rooms are bright, chic and tastefully decorated. I didn’t want to leave! The Beacon is just beautiful. A special bag of goodies was awaiting too, which was a nice surprise.
After check-in, it was time for a welcome drinks reception at The Crystal Bar, followed by The Vintage Party Experience at The Crystal Suite. We got afternoon tea style delicacies: gourmet sandwiches, éclairs, profiteroles and coffee. The suite was lined with vintage treasures, old photos and vintage clothing (a Victorian morning suit, a 1920’s gown, an Albino fox stole).
The set-up was fabulous. It was like we stepped into a bygone era.
We took our seats and were introduced to stunning mother and daughter duo, Sarah Jane and Caoilfhionn Hanton of Beauty Team Studies. Sarah Jane is a lover of all things vintage. She finds the stories behind old things and old people captivating. She gave a fantastic presentation on old school Hollywood glamour and educated us on the lives of three key individuals: Clara Bow, Max Factor and Jean Harlow (the original blonde bombshell). I found the presentation fascinating. I particularly enjoyed learning about Clara Bow, the original IT girl. She was one of the very first silent movie stars, who catapulted to fame. She lived loose and fast and was the master of her own destiny. Her tale is one of rags to riches.
Sarah-Jane then presented a make-up masterclass.
We got to dress up in vintage too and a few snaps were taken. Learning about signature looks through the ages is a fantastic option for a hen party activity or for any group of friends with an interest in fashion and make-up. For more details, check out Beauty Team Studies here.
The Vintage Tea Party Package includes:
- Luxurious overnight plush accommodation in the Deluxe Suite
- Vintage Tea Party in The Crystal Suite
- 2 course dinner in award-winning My Thai Restaurant
- Full Irish Breakfast the following morning
- Complimentary Wi-Fi and car parking
All this for €149 per person.
We freshened up and 20 of us enjoyed a delicious three course meal at My Thai Restaurant. Who doesn’t love Thai food? There was so much choice. We got to taste everything: spring rolls, beef, prawn, chicken and vegetable dishes. See full menu here. We each had a selection of gorgeous desserts too and the wine flowed. We were exceptionally well looked after. I felt so grateful to be there and in such wonderful company – rubbing shoulders with some of the country’s finest fashion and beauty bloggers, journalists and editors. This photo was taken at around 3am… but you can see how happy I am!
Conversation flowed and it was clear we were all having a great time. I met a lovely bunch of ladies with similar interests. Time flew and before we knew it, it was after 3 in the morning! I kept my outfit simple: an old vintage favourite and white capri trousers from River Island. Buy here. Hair is by Simone from Salon 2, Sligo.
A special thanks to the staff at The Beacon Hotel for making our stay so pleasant and enjoyable. I can’t recommend this Afternoon Tea Party Package enough. I will definitely be back at The Beacon. This boutique hotel is conveniently located only minutes from Dundrum Shopping Centre – perfect is you’re planning a shopping spree with the girls.
