Look 3: Crop & high waist
This was probably my favourite outfit from our trip, perhaps because it was new! Although I had made a deal with myself that I wasn’t buying any new clothes, I did the worst thing possible and nipped in ‘for a look’ just before I started packing. The problem is that as soon as I cross the threshold of a clothes shop, I forget all the clothes I already have in my wardrobe! I’m sure I’m not alone. I suppose there’s no harm in updating with 2-3 pieces! Anyway, you all know the feeling of wearing something for the first time…
Here we are in Sirmione at Lake Garda – my cousin Catherine and I. Apparently we look very alike. I’ll take that! If visiting north Italy, I’d highly recommend a trip to Sirmione. I’ll be writing a more detailed post on where we stayed and the places worth checking out around Lake Garda.
This geometric print crop top is from River Island. Buy here. I went for the size up so I wouldn’t be bulging after meal times.
The chunky monochrome micro-beaded neckpiece is a recent purchase from Penneys (Primark). It’s in store at the moment and costs approximately €6. My old favourite retro sunnies are by Ray Ban. Find a similar look at Rachel Murray Eyecare.
As you know, I’m a big fan of separates – mixing and matching to create new looks. This white pleated midi skirt is from Exhibit. I rarely find pieces that suit me in there, but I was pleasantly surprised with this skirt. It only cost around €20! I’d recommend going a size or two up as their garments are tight-fitting (at least I find that to be the case anyway!) You don’t have to be a skinny minnie to pull off a crop top – just wear your skirt a little higher on the waist and voilá! Buy a similar style here, here and here.
I dropped a bit of tiramisu on mine! The monochrome sandals are the ones I always wear. I still love them and I’m on to my second pair from Dunnes. They are a steal at €25. Buy here. This complete look cost approximately €70. That’s great value considering you could buy a dress for that price, which you’d probably only end up wearing once!
Top tip: Buy separates in future!
Stay tuned for more.
