My Birthday Suit

Thanks for all your well wishes – I took a wee break from social media over the weekend and only got a chance to read through your messages now. I’m feeling full of love. We had a great weekend and I got to take a long overdue trip down memory lane.

To celebrate my birthday Julian took me on a road trip along the Wild Atlantic Way. The destination was a surprise and I didn’t know what to pack. At one stage he told me to bring a wetsuit! I’m not one to sit still for too long. I’m always up for an adventure and love to see new parts of Ireland, so this was the perfect birthday gift.

During the week I’ll be sharing details of our route -the hits, the misses and where I’d recommend you visit if holidaying in Ireland this year. For now, here’s what I wore.

Friday night: Spanish Point, Co. Clare

We arrived Friday evening and it was fairly drizzly so I changed into trousers. I didn’t buy a birthday outfit this year –  I just hadn’t thought about it! I had bought a Reclaimed Vintage coord top and skirt months ago with summer holidays in mind and never wore it, so I thought that would be something fresh to don for the occasion. Buy this sail boat print top here.

This neckpiece is from COS. I picked it up on a trip to London last November. The clasp is magnetic, which is cool. COS is great for sophisticated, minimalist garments and their accessories, on the other hand, are unusual, fun and architectural. Buy something similar here.

The white capri trousers are from River Island. They are perfect for summer. Buy here.

We spent the night at Lynch’s pub (now Friel’s) after a top feed of Surf and Turf at The Bakehouse. We listened to diddly-i music as the clock stuck midnight. Although I love to travel and discover foreign lands I appreciate my roots and respect and love all things rural Ireland. There was Sean Nós singing and all.

 Saturday night: Adare, Co. Limerick

After a really wonderful day of visiting what Ireland’s west coast has to offer, we landed in Adare. It’s a very pretty heritage town with great grub, thatched cottages and exclusive high fashion boutiques. It’s home to Adare Manor too of course. We stayed at Dunraven Arms Hotel.

It’s right across the road from the street of pubs and restaurants. We watched the Sligo v Roscommon game and in true Tríona style I left myself 10 minutes to change for dinner… and I couldn’t find a hair brush, evidently! Normally I wouldn’t mind but I wanted to look good on my birthday… Thank God for that peplum.

The Reclaimed Vintage sail boat coord top and skirt is from Asos. It’s now on sale! Buy here and here. I added a pop of colour with these red shoes from Next. They’re a steal and are very comfortable, which is key. I love blues and reds worn together. Buy these shoes here.

I’m feeling grateful to have 30 years of life, especially given recent tragic events. It’s a privilege. I also feel beyond blessed to have this handsome man in my life. He’s full of surprises and never lets me down, ever. Here’s to many, many more road trips!

Thanks again for all the love and for reading. If you are planning a trip this direction and would like any more info’, get in touch on or find me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Love, love, love,
