Lemon & Lace | Wedding

Yesterday we went to a wedding at Castle Grove Country House  outside Letterkenny in Donegal. It’s a beautiful Georgian house with elegant charm, old world luxury, antique furnishings and stunning grounds. One of my dearest old friends and travel bud David was getting married. It was a really relaxed environment and the sun came out. The dress code was smart casual. I wanted to wear something summery. I love this lemon shade and thought this lace dress from Dresses-Ireland would be perfect.

I pull the weirdest faces.

As usual getting ready was a last minute rush. I did my makeup in the car, wore the shoes I’d been driving in as they’re so comfortable (TKMaxx) and landed in the B&B 15 minutes before the taxi came. I think I did OK considering. This dress is reversible, but I wore it with the higher neckline to the front.  Dresses Ireland is the clothing line by local lady Dee Moran. She’s a dressmaker and designer from Sligo. You can read my interview with her in the August issue of Sligo Now Magazine (I will upload it to the blog soon). I picked up the bag in Dunnes.

I think this dress would be ideal for many occasions like weddings, confirmations/communions, christenings or any smart or formal affair. Buy lemon dress here. There’s a similar style dress in fuschia pink too, which is fab on and all her dresses are very affordable. See more here.

I decided to keep accessories to a minimum and let the dress do the talking. I made these earrings yesterday morning just before I hit the road. I recycled the opal beads from a broken bracelet and made fun little figurines. I popped into Salon 2 for a simple sleek updo that  takes only a few minutes and costs €8! It’s part of their brand new BYoung concept, which I wanted to check out. I’ll be telling you more about this in an upcoming blogpost.

I’ll definitely be back to try out more styles from the young up and coming team of stylists at Salon 2. Check out that Cortina! I made an adorable little friend who wanted to see inside my bag! I love the length of this dress. It really is ideal for several occasions and if you want to cover your thighs or couldn’t be bothered applying a full leg of tan!

So there you have it – an outfit idea for a smart casual affair. Find me on Instagram for regular outfit posts. In the meantime, check out the brand new collection from Deirdre Moran of Dresses Ireland and stay tuned for our upcoming giveaway!
