I hope you’re having a lovely, restful weekend. If you’re planning to start your Christmas shopping, I’m here to make it a little bit easier and more enjoyable with thanks to Little Shop at Shells Café. I’ve absolutely loved preparing this Gift Guide and I’m certain you’re going to find something to suit – you or a loved one. You know you’ve found a great gift when you want it yourself! There’s something for everyone in this guide: for him, for her and for the home.
The problem is: you’ll want it all!
Little Shop is such a beautiful haven nestled in the heart of seaside village Strandhill. It’s part of award-winning Shells Café, where you can keep warm with a hot chocolate in hand, while you browse the latest hand-selected treasures – many of which have been sourced from owners Jane and Myles’ travels. You’ll discover unique jewellery, homeware, handmade accessories, candles, the very best in personal care, childrenswear, books, toys and delectable delights.
Many of you may have already seen my snaps on snapchat (@moda_fix) and Instagram, where I gave you a virtual tour of Little Shop and showed you the beautiful stock.
Check out my favourites for:
In terms of jewellery, top of my list is this chain by Adiya (pictured below). It’s all the way from Bali. Each piece is one-off and they also do very unusual statement earrings, which look seriously cool on girls with short hair.
Women love jewellery; it’s something so sentimental and individual; it gives a little insight into her personality. Anything from Wolf & Moon is a winner in my eyes. I’m currently coveting their white ‘Diamond Hoop’ earrings made from brass and wood and their simple ‘Three Circle’ necklace.
As regards accessories, they need to be functional, hence these oversized blanket scarves by Tweedmill would make an ideal gift for her. Just look at those complimentary colours! Think beach walks and picnics or mulled wine by the fire… wrapped up in these beauties.
Or how about a reclaimed suede purse-come-makeup bag?
It can be tricky buying for a guy, but not at Little Shop. It has so much to offer. This laptop case by LX Upcycle is made from a recycled wetsuit and kite! It’s designed and upcycled here in Sligo and there are more options available instore as well as wallets made from bike tyres and sails. I think this is amazing. This is a practical and trendy gift and you can rest assured that you’re doing your bit for the environment.
For the bearded babes among you, this beard oil by The Handmade Soap Co. will tickle your fancy! It’s another Irish brand that offers a range of personal care items and diffusers, available at Shells’ Little Shop.
If your desk looks a little bare, this wooden calendar would be a nice gift idea for his office space or how about these beautiful pencil sets and wooden 3D rulers from the Bloomingville Office range?
Owner Jane is pictured here in Little Shop showing their brand new organic cotton T-shirts from Grown. There are 3 styles to choose from and for every T-shirt you buy, Irish eco-friendly company Grown will plant a tree in Ireland! Shop here.
More unisex favourites include these beautiful water bottles and seriously cool paper watches made from tearproof and waterproof Tyvek paper.
My gift ideas for your home include these candles from Irish brand Clean Slate; Cedarwood + Pine is my scent of choice. Other homeware suggestions are the plates featured, the prettiest cups from Arthouse Meath and Shells’ own range of ‘You, Me & The Sea’ enamel mugs and dishes. Julian is a fan – we’ve already purchased. Buy here and here.
Suggestions include stud earrings from Wolf & Moon, aforementioned ‘Write Your Story’ pencils from Bloomingville and paper watches, my own range of handmade jewellery: delicate shell pendants and earrings – handpicked from Sligo’s seashores, lip balm from The Handmade Soap Co. and barely there, minimalist pendants – all available at Little Shop.
Well, I hope you found that helpful and enjoyed browsing the pictures as much as I enjoyed compiling this blog.
